Stayed in America
Whirlpool Corporation is the only major manufacturer of kitchen and laundry appliances based and owned in the U.S. We believe the best way to serve American families is to do our business right here where they live.
“Whirlpool’s investments in American workers and American manufacturing strengthens the very homes our appliances are built to care for.”
Marc Bitzer, Chairman and CEO, Whirlpool Corporation
We Started Here
Whirlpool was founded in 1911 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Our commitment to American families has never wavered—giving us an even greater understanding of the changing needs inside American homes.
We Stayed Here
Meanwhile, our competitors moved or stayed overseas. GE Appliances was sold to the Chinese multinational company Qingdao Haier. The vast majority of appliances sold in the U.S. by Korean companies LG and Samsung are made in foreign factories, resulting in fewer American jobs.
We Build Here
Approximately 80% of the major appliances we sell in the U.S. come from our American factories—three times more than the average of our major competitors. Approximately 96% of the steel we use is American—across Whirlpool, KitchenAid, JennAir, Maytag, Amana and InSinkErator product lines.
We’re Not Just Invested in America, We’re Made With America
