An Energy-Efficient Refrigerator for At-Home Entertaining
Shawn Ashby, New Product Brand Manager, walks through the new KitchenAid® 30" Cu. Ft. 48" Built-In Side-by-Side Refrigerator and the ways it helps homeowners entertain at home (while staying energy-efficient).
SHAWN ASHBY:
Hi, everyone. My name’s Shawn Ashby. I’m a New Product Brand Manager here at Whirlpool Corporation.
Today I want to talk about two growing trends that we’re seeing in the industry, the first one being around energy-efficient appliances. ENERGY STAR® certified appliances continue to rank as one of the top ten features that homebuyers are looking for when shopping for a new home. And a great place to showcase energy efficiency in appliances is within the refrigerator category.
Refrigerators built today use about as much energy as a 60-watt lightbulb and actually, compared to refrigerators built in the 1980s, are about 60% more efficient. So, a great story around energy-efficient appliances and around energy-certified appliances.
One of those appliances that falls into that category as ENERGY STAR certified is this beautiful new KitchenAid® 48-inch Built-In Side-by-Side Refrigerator.
The second trend is all about home entertaining. We've seen a huge increase in home entertainment, and this refrigerator is really going to be the hub of home entertaining. So let's go ahead and take a closer look inside.
The first thing you'll notice right off the bat is the beautiful platinum interior with the multi-point LED lights. And you'll notice that all of the LED lights are up at the front of the cavity. So it's really going to represent the food in there and not cast shadows on anything that may be deeper back in the refrigerator.
You'll notice the wood accent pull-out shelf. Again, easy access to all of those finger foods that you're going to be constantly putting out throughout the party. And then two huge, large crisper drawers that are all temperature-controlled.
We can tell the same story when we move over to the freezer, the main one being this very large ice maker. So this is where you're going to be able to store all of your ice. The ice maker is contained right here, dumps the ice down into here, huge ice production, always making sure that we're not going to run out of ice.
